a little more information
Here is a little more information that I hope will provide more insight as to why this community was created!
I've seen other communities list this. How is this one different?
Most singing communities out there are lead by one or a team of people who audition prospective members, assign them into groups, and decide on what songs the members will be singing, and when. The focus of this community, however, is independence. Every member is free to work on whatever they want to in this community. I am simply providing a place for them to organize, work on, and release anything their heart desires.
In order to have a community like this and prevent utter chaos, I decided to implement rules that will (hopefully) help everyone make their projects as organized as possible, so that it increases the chances of a successful release. I have also made clear distinctions of the types of projects that can be made and released in this community. Read bout them here!
Wait a second, this reminds me of...
Sekai no Melody? Yep! Sekai no Melody was the first online singing community I joined. It's actually one of only two I ever joined, because I had so much fun in SnM that I didn't feel I needed to join any others! During the first few months after I joined, SnM had a system pretty similar to what I have here now, where members could start and join whichever projects they wanted.
However, after a while it was decided that the freedom, disorganization and lack of a common view was too chaotic and needed to be changed, especially because this system was not the original purpose of that community. SnM was supposed to be an organization lead by Miri, who is very good at coming up with themes, assigned projects, group types and ideas that have helped the community become THE most united online singing community out there. This structure is what works for SnM, and I think the change back to the original vision will, and has, helped keep that unique energy alive. :]
That being said, not very long before the announcement that SnM's system would be re-worked I was finding myself on the fence about whether I should continue singing or not. I had much less time to set aside for this kind of hobby than before. When the announcement of the revamp came, I didn't know what to do. I was afraid that I would not be able to keep promises if projects would be decided for me because I was even having trouble keeping up with projects that I had planned ahead for!
That's when I realized that there should be at least one place out there with the type of flexibility I had experienced in my first few months at SnM. I think it's a good system for people that might not be able to devote time to an organization where you can't predict when the next project will be assigned, and also for people that get left out when the type of music they want to sing doesn't get covered. It just needed some more structure to be able to work without getting out of hand!
And so FukiSuki came to be.
I created FukiSuki to be a place where you decide what you want to sing, when, and how. If you only want to sing leisurely, singing only once in a while here and there, you can do that here. If you thrive on busying yourself with constant projects to work on, you can do it here. If you like to work alone and want to make your own solo discography, you can do it here. If you have a few friends you think would be great fun to start your own singing group with, you can do it here. If you like singing with anyone and everyone on all sorts of projects, you can do it here. If you have lots of ideas of projects you want to create and invite people to join, you can do it here!
I really believed there should be a place with this type of freedom, and I hope that I have been able to provide it. I guess we'll see how it works out! xD;; For the record, in the end I decided to stay with SnM! Even though I can't participate in a lot anymore (to make sure I don't end up breaking promises), it's just too great of a community to leave. If you have time for it, I recommend you look into joining! The people there are great. :]
